The Canada EU STI Opportunities webinar held on March 21st, 2023, was the perfect platform for you to learn about the high-level Science, Technology, and Innovation (STI) opportunities available to Canadians with the EU.
The webinar was attended by 260 people and rated as excellent by more than half of the respondents. The event covered the history and summary of Canada’s collaboration with the EU and STI, EU programs that are open to Canadians, different funding programs that can support Canadian STI efforts in the EU, and known networks support systems and tools available to Canadian innovators.
One of the key highlights of the webinar was the discussion on Horizon Europe, the world’s largest research and innovation funding programme, and encouraging further Canadian participation.
Researchers and innovators of any nationality can apply for individual grants such as Marie Sklodowska Curie Fellowships and ERC Grants.
The webinar also highlighted Canadian funding programmes, such as Mitacs and New Frontiers in Research Fund – Horizon Global Platform Competition, which respectively support Canadian participation in Pillar 1, researcher mobility, and Pillar 2, societal challenges – Research and Innovation Calls.
Additionally, Canada is currently in negotiations on closer cooperation under the Horizon Europe framework program, and updates will be shared once concluded, likely later this year.
